Community Helpers Firefighter Craft

If you’re teaching on people who help us in our community and on the look out for some easy community helpers preschool crafts, this community helpers firefighter craft is a great low-prep one to go for! Grab the FREE template here and add it to your fun community helpers preschool activities this week!

My kids love doing crafts and over the years I’ve discovered that some crafts can take up a lot of space, or are fun to make but not so pretty to display! Don’t get me wrong, we love those crafts too! But, sometimes it’s nice to have a small craft that your kids can use afterward.

This cute craft was a lovely, relaxing, mindful activity to do alongside my kids. We chatted about firefighters, what they do, and the vehicles and equipment they use. Then we thought about stories we have read or seen on TV where these emergency vehicles feature.

How to Make Your Firefighter Box

The first step in creating this cute Firefighters Box is to assemble your materials. I found I already had these supplies in my kid’s craft cupboard from previous crafts, but if you don’t, they can all be found on Amazon if you can’t get them locally.

You’ll need…

  • My FREE Printable Template
  • Colored Pens / Pencils / or Paints
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Pin text reads, Firefighter crafts for kids [free] and shows an image of the template cut out and another of the template colored in with glue on the edges and a third image of the craft completed.

The first thing you need to do, is scroll to the bottom of the post and download the Free Printable Template. Once you’ve got it, I’d recommend printing it out on card as paper is too flimsy.

Now you simply cut around the box template and cut out the box decorations (firefighters, fire engine, hose, and ladder).

Now comes the fun part! Your little ones can decorate their box and the decorations however they like. You could use pens, paint, tissue paper and glue, dot markers, stamps, stickers, etc.. Then they glue the decorations onto the box.

Lastly, you need to fold along the dotted lines on the box and glue the flaps, as shown in the picture above. Then make up the box. Once the glue is dry your box is ready to use!

These cute little boxes are great for kids to collect their little treasures in! Things like stickers, erasers, loose change, hair clips, a special shell, loom bands, etc all fit in here.
