Community Helpers Vehicles Craft [With FREE Emergency Vehicles Craft Template]
We love learning about people who help us in our local community. Making this cute suncatcher emergency vehicles craft is a fun way to do that! Choose from a fire engine, police car, ambulance, and life boat using our easy community helpers vehicles craft template!
My kids love doing crafts and over the years I’ve discovered that some crafts can take up a lot of space, or are fun to make but not so pretty to display! Don’t get me wrong, we love those crafts too! But, sometimes it’s nice to have a small craft that you can easily display and that actually looks nice too! And this Community Helpers Vehicles Craft is exactly that!

This cute craft was a lovely, relaxing, mindful activity to do alongside my kids. We chatted about the different vehicles, which community helpers use them, and how they help people. Then we thought about stories we have read or seen on TV where these emergency vehicles feature.

How to Make Your Emergency Vehicles Suncatchers
The first step in creating these Emergency Vehicles Suncatchers is to assemble your materials. I found I already had these supplies in my kid’s craft cupboard from previous crafts, but if you don’t, they can all be found on Amazon if you can’t get them locally.
You’ll need…
- Sticky back Plastic (Clear Contact Paper)
- PVA Glue
- Black Paint
- Squeezy bottle with small nozzle (or paintbrush like I used)
- Scissors
- Colored Tissue Paper
- My FREE Emergency Vehicles Template (at bottom of post)

Once you’ve got all your materials, the next thing to do is cut out a section of contact paper (sticky back plastic) that’s the same size as the template you want to start with. Then carefully peel off the backing and lay the contact paper on top of your template with the sticky side facing up.
Now mix some PVA glue with black paint. I did roughly double the amount of glue to paint. It doesn’t have to be too accurate here.
If you have a bottle with a small nozzle, this would be the best thing to use here. However, I couldn’t find one so I used a small paintbrush which worked fine. With your mixture, you need to trace over the lines of the template that’s underneath your contact paper.
It should look like this when you have done and removed the template that was underneath. It will depend a lot on the age of your child as to whether you do this stage to prep the craft for them or whether they do it themselves.

Once this has dried, then you are ready to start adding the color! Simply tear up small pieces of colored tissue paper and start sticking it onto the contact paper! Use the lines for guidance when it comes to color.
It will look like the image above, so don’t worry if it looks a little messy this side up. Turn it over and it should look really cute!
And that’s you done! Now you just need to find a window to stick it to and enjoy!
