Spring Counting Preschool Activity [FREE Printable]

This Fun Spring Counting Preschool Activity, with cute hatching chicks to match to eggs, is available to download as an easy pdf file. Perfect if you want to try it out straight away! This activity is the perfect way to add a Spring Theme to your Counting Activities Preschool Lesson plan, or for a fun home-learning activity!

Learning numbers and practicing counting in Preschool doesn’t have to involve sitting at a desk doing a worksheet! Research has shown that little kids learn best through play, so I created this free printable to help our little ones practice their counting through a fun matching game!

There are a few different ways you can use this FREE Spring Counting Preschool Printable. I’ll go into more detail below.

Different Ways to Use this Free Printable

There are a few different ways to play and learn with this Spring Counting Preschool Activity.

Firstly, you can use the chicks themselves for a Number Recognition Matching Game! Simply cut them out and turn them all face down on a table. Then take it in turns to turn over two chicks. If you find a pair with matching numbers you can keep them. Keep playing like this until all the chicks have been claimed. The winner is the player with the most chicks!

The second way to play is to stick all the cracked egg shells onto a piece of card. Only glue them around the bottom and side of the shells, to make a little slot in the middle that the chicks will fit into.

Then pop the chicks next to your shell board and encourage your little one to match the chicks to the right shells. There are two chicks per shell.

And finally, a third way to play this is as a Spring Scavenger Hunt!

Hide the chicks around your class, house, or garden (if the weather allows!). Then encourage your little one to find all the chicks and match them up. Once they are matched, they can then find the right shells to pop them into!

Then you can print them out at home, ready to use right away! Great if you’re needing some last-minute Spring-themed Preschool Activities!

Make sure to select the option, ‘fit to printable area’ in the advanced settings when printing. This makes sure the printable comes out looking it’s best.
