As the weather starts to get colder, and we begin spending more time indoors, I’m always on the look-out for more easy, low-prep (yet fun!) Winter Learning Activities for my kids. That’s why I created this Free Snowman shape match printable, to share with you!

I’ve found these little shape match printables a great way for toddlers and preschoolers to practice shape matching in a fun, play-based way.

I love leaving little activities like this out on the table for my kids to discover themselves. It’s always fun to see the excitement on their faces when they see a new activity to try.

This one also works great as part of a morning basket. A fun, themed activity to do when they first wake up, or whilst you’re making their breakfast or grabbing that first coffee of the day.

How you can use your Snowman Shape Match Printable

There are a number of different ways you can use this Winter Preschool Printable to teach your little ones. I love when one resource can do multiple things!

However you choose to use these printables, your kids will learn to match shapes, learn their names, and practise their fine motor skills.

Snowman Scavenger Hunt

Firstly, you could hide your snowman shapes around your home or classroom for your little ones to find. This is a great way to get your kids up and moving about, using up some energy! They’ll also be practising their observation skills, concentration, and attention to detail.

My daughter loved using these as a Scavenger Hunt activity and she went around with her glue stick, matching up the shapes and sticking them on as she went.

Alternatively, you can laminate the shapes and attach little Velcro dots to them so they can be reused over and over.

Sensory Bin

A second way to play, is to hide all your snowman shapes in a sensory bin full of fake snow, rice, or another dry filler.

Your kids then find and match the shapes from there. This is a great option if your kids are a fan of sensory play. It’s like a game of hide-and-seek but on a smaller scale.

Cutting and Sticking Practice

If you’re looking for a quiet-time activity to be completed at a desk you can use this Snowman Shape Match Printable as a cutting-and-sticking activity for your Preschoolers. As they match the shapes, they can cut them out and glue them on.

This FREE Snowman Shape Matching Printable contains 2 sheets. One with the Snowman Shapes to cut out and the other with the matching shapes to match them to.

Once you have downloaded them, simply print off, cut out, and you’re ready to go! I recommend printing onto card and laminating if you want to re-use them.
