Looking for a Christmas-themed activity to help your little one practice their shapes? This FREE Santa’s stocking shape match printable is ideal for that. A great way for toddlers and preschoolers to practice shape matching in a hands-on way.

Little activities like this are great for putting out on the table for your kids to discover themselves, especially first thing in the morning. It’s always fun to see the excitement on their faces when they see a new activity to try.

How you can use your Santa’s Stocking Shape Match Printable

You can use this Christmas Shape Printable in a number of different ways to teach your little ones. I love when one printable can be used for a few different activities!

However you choose to use these printables, your kids will learn to match shapes, learn their names, and practise their fine motor skills.

Christmas Gift Scavenger Hunt

Firstly, you could hide your Christmas gift shapes around your home or classroom for your little ones to find. This is a great way to get your kids up and moving about, using up some energy! They’ll also be practising their observation skills, concentration, and attention to detail.

My daughter loved using these as a Scavenger Hunt activity and she went around with her glue stick, matching up the shapes and sticking them on as she went.

Alternatively, you can laminate the shapes and attach little Velcro dots to them so they can be reused over and over.

Sensory Bin

A second way to play, is to hide all your Christmas gift shapes in a sensory bin full of tinsel, strips of gift wrap, or rice dyed in Christmas colours.

Your kids then find and match the shapes from there. This is a great option if your kids are a fan of sensory play. It’s like a game of hide-and-seek but on a smaller scale.

Cutting and Sticking Practice

If you’re looking for a quiet-time activity to be completed at a desk you can use this Christmas Shape Match Printable as a cutting-and-sticking activity for your Preschoolers. As they match the shapes, they can cut them out and glue them on.
