1. What the Ladybird Heard at Christmas

This book by Julia Donaldson & Lydia Monks, is an easy to read rhyming book about how the animals at the big house save Christmas by scaring off the baddies! Think ‘Home Alone’, but with pets! A brilliantly funny story that both of my kids thoroughly enjoy every year!

2. Greg the Sausage Roll: Santa’s Little Helper

This book by Mark & Roxanne Hoyle & Gareth Conway, is a cute little story about an enthusiastic sausage roll meeting Santa for the first time and helping him deliver his presents. This caused many giggles in my home!

3. Mince Spies

This fab book by Mark Sperring is a fun, rhyming, Christmas story about Santa’s top secret spies, the Mince Spies! They are looking for the baddies who have destroyed the sweet Christmas food in the local shops, and they have some super fun, super silly gadgets to help them! My son loved reading this one!

4. We’re Going on an Elf Chase

This cute lift-the-flap Christmas Book, by Martha Mumford and Laura Hughes, is so beautifully illustrated, with rhymes that just slide of your tongue. We love this whole series, which seems to have taken its inspiration from one of my much-love childhood book, ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’.

5. The Christmas Pine

This heart-warming story from Julia Donaldson and Victoria Sandoy, is a lovely, relaxing, warm book about a beautiful big tree and the journey it goes on to become a Christmas Tree. A lovely story for snuggling up to on Christmas eve.

6. The Christmas Bear

The Christmas Bear is such a sweet, lift-the-flap book for young Preschoolers or Toddlers to enjoy. It’s got lovely rhymes on each page, beautiful illustrations and a cute little story about getting the Christmas Bear to his new owner before Christmas morning.

7. The Nativity Book and Puzzle

This lovely book, with puzzle, by Sam Smith and John Joven, has been popular in our house. With beautiful illustrations and a lovely 30-piece puzzle to go along with it, my son was delighted when he received this as a gift one Christmas.

8. Nativity Flap Book

The Nativity Flap Book, by Sam Taplin and Jessica Greenwell, is perfect for the Toddler or Preschooler who can’t sit for long! It’s got beautiful illustrations, lovely flaps to lift and a short story to follow. My own daughter loved this one when she was younger.

9. The Nativity

This Nativity story is written in rhyme but yet sticks firmly to the original Bible Story of Baby Jesus Birth. They make sure to use language that Preschool kids will understand, without watering down the powerful message of the First Christmas. It’s great if you’re keen for your Preschooler to understand the real Christmas story.

This Christmas Classic by Clement Moore & Charles Santore, is an absolute must-read Christmas story each year! We never let a Christmas pass by without having read this one at least once. A lovely calming bedtime story for Christmas eve.

The Snowman, by Raymond Briggs, is a true children’s classic. This beautiful picture book is one that I remember from my own childhood! The Snowman and the Snowdog is a beautiful follow-on from this story and a much loved Christmas book in our home!

10 Little Elves, by Mike Brownlow and Simon Rickerty, is fun, light-hearted, and my kiddos found it hilarious! Unexpected disaster befalls one elf at a time as we count down from 10 to 1, before they all bounce back again, completely un-harmed, at the end! A fun Christmas rhyming book for little ones learning to count.

22. One Snowy Night (A Percy the Park Keeper Book)

One Snowy Night, by Nick Butterworth, is one of my all-time Favourite Winter Stories. I remember being read it when I was a child and it makes me so happy that my kids love having it read to them as well. Although it isn’t technically a Christmas story, I just had to squeeze it in here as it’s such a cosy, feel-good, story for this time of the year.

This lovely story, by Valerie Thomas & Korky Paul, is full of magic and mystery. My son loves following Winnie and Wilbur’s hilarious antics and all the fun and games they get up to. This book charts what happens when they meet Santa.

25. Mr Noisy and the Silent Night

This Story, by Roger Hargreaves, follows a childhood classic: The Mr Men Series! Mr Noisy is headed to Mr Quiet’s House for Christmas and Mr Quiet is dreading it! They have very different ideas of what makes the perfect Christmas. This is a great little book for starting discussions about differences of opinion, and being considerate to others. As you can tell from the photo, this book is well-loved in our home!

Finally, I’ll end my list with this fun activity book to keep your little one’s entertained on Christmas morning whilst you’re getting the dinner in the oven!

This one is great for car journeys, waiting for food at restaurants, or any other quiet time.

My kids loved looking for all the different Christmas things on each page and seeing who could spot them first!
