Christmas Charades for Kids [Free Printable]
One of our Family Christmas Traditions every year is an after dinner game of Charades, but we sometimes struggle to think of things to act out on the spot! So, this year, I have created a Christmas Charades Game for us to pull out after dinner! I’m sharing my Christmas Charades for Kids game here in case you would like it too!
My FREE Christmas Charades Game features 50 cute cards with lots of Christmas Movies, Christmas Stories, Christmas Songs, and general Christmas stuff to have fun acting out!
To make them last for years and years, we have printed ours out on card and laminated them. This should make it nice and easy to rub the inevitable chocolate smudges off them as the kids dive into the celebrations tub at the same time as playing!

How Do You Play Christmas Charades?
Charades is such a fun and easy game. If you’ve not played it before, don’t worry, you’ll pick it up so quickly!
Split into two teams first. Try to make the teams equally matched by not having kids against parents if the kids are younger.
The teams take it in turns to have one of their members select the top card off the pile and act it out for their teammates to guess.
The actor can use gestures, body movements, and facial expressions to convey the word/phrase. You cannot talk or make noises.
To begin, you usually use a sign to show whether you are acting out a song, movie, book, or action. I’ve explained the signs below.
BOOK: The sign for book is placing your hands together in front of you and then opening them like you would a book.
MOVIE: For a Movie, pretend to turn the reel of an old-fashioned camera.
SONG: To show you are acting out a song, put two fingers to your mouth and then move them upwards in a wiggly motion while miming singing.
ACTION: To mime action, pretend to run on the spot.
To help narrow it down, common charades clues include holding up a number of fingers for the number of words in the phrase or pointing to your ear for “sounds like.”
The team has a time limit (usually 1-2 minutes) to guess what the actor is performing.
If the team guesses correctly, they score a point. If time runs out without a correct guess, no points are awarded. The team with the most points at the end of the game (when the cards have run out) are the winners!
