This fun Safari Sensory Bin is so great for your little one’s fine motor skills! I created this Feed the Safari Animals Sensory Bin with a Free Printable so you can set it up for your little one’s in under 10 minutes! I know how busy motherhood is!

If your little one still puts everything in their mouth then this one is fab as you can use cereal or another food for the filler to make the activity taste safe for them!

This one’s great for practicing using a spoon, scooping, and pouring! It’s also a lovely way to introduce wild animals to your little ones. You can also use it to increase their vocabulary and general knowledge, as they learn the names and you chat about the colors and patterns on the animals.

If you want to add in some counting practice you could ask your little one how many animals there are, and how many scoops of food they are giving to each animal.

How to get the Animal Faces for this Sensory Bin

Simply grab my free printable Safari Animal Faces Printable (Big Pink Button below). This contains 6 Safari Animal Faces you can cut out.

Once you have downloaded this, print it out on card (being sure to select the option to ‘fit to printable area’). You want it on card so it is more durable for play. Paper is often not strong enough and likely to break when the ‘food’ is poured on it.

Once you have cut out the animals faces, then cut out their mouths (black ovals), so they are ready to be fed!

How to Create the Sensory Bin

Once you have your animal faces printed out and cut out, you can then start to assemble your sensory bin.

I used plastic children’s cups this time, but in the past I have used old plastic bottles for the bases.

Using PVA glue, I glued around the edge of the cups and then gently pressed the faces onto them. The glue must then be left to dry before the kids play with it.

Once they are dry, pop them in a sensory bin with spoons and your choice of filling! I chose dyed rice this time as I had it left over from another activity. You could use sand, pom poms, dried pasta or beans, or you could use cereal to make it taste safe for little kids.
