These FREE Road Trip Printables for Kids are one of the many Free Printables I have here at Bravery and Belonging. I find that free printables, like these, are great when you’re travelling long distances with little kids.

It gives them some variety and something new and interesting to do in the car while you’re travelling. Printables are also great because they hardly take up any space when you pack the car! Bonus!

What’s in this Collection of Road Trip Printables?

My collection of Free Road Trip Printables for Kids includes a fun Road Trip Scavenger Hunt to engage your kids in what they are seeing out of their windows.

This one is my personal favourite! I’ve used pictures, rather than words, so as not to exclude younger kids or those with dyslexia and difficulties reading.

This one is great for getting their eyes off their devices and their focus on what they’re seeing on the journey.

My second free printable in this bundle is car counting by colour! Depending on the type of road you’re on this one can become quite fast-paced!

Thirdly, I thought it would be fun to challenge our kids imaginations and creativity with a design challenge! I kept it relevant to their road trip too!

Great for fine motor skills, the colouring is an opportunity to think outside the box with patterns and colours! Then they can decide what type of truck they are designing and what it’s carrying too!

The next activity sheet is another version of I Spy! This one is nature themed, encouraging them to look out for the wildlife (and pets!) they might see on their journey! Once they spot something on their sheet, they can color it in!

And then we have the Alphabet I Spy game, that is more like the classic game! This time they need to try to find something for each letter of the alphabet. This could be outside or inside the car! This is a great one to encourage them to think and observe! Once they find something beginning with a letter, they can color in that letter to mark it off!

And lastly (for now at least!), we have the Ice Cream imaginings Sheet! This one is in honour of my kids! They LOVE ice-cream! Ice Cream Imaginings is all about having some fun and letting their dreams run away with them as they design their dream ice cream sundae!

What are some of the Different Ways you can Use them?

There are a few fun ways you can use these Free Road Trip Printables. It’s just a case of deciding which way works best for you and your family.

You might choose to print them out and hand them individually to your child, along with a clipboard, whenever they are starting to get bored. This works well if you little one likes the element of surprise and you don’t want to show your hand too early with the activities!

Alternatively, you may prefer to laminate these sheets and put them into a binder, with some wipeable markers for your little one to look through and choose to do at their leisure. This works well if your child likes choice and options, and if you want to keep all the sheets together and tidy.

You could even use a small pieces of string to attach your wipeable markers to the folder so they don’t get dropped all over the floor of the car!

If your kids would enjoy some of these, like the Scavenger Hunts and I Spy’s, but have no interest in coloring or writing (or cannot be trusted with markers in the back of the car!) then there’s another way. You could have the person in the front seat hold the board and the kids shout out when they spot things for the ‘marker’ to mark them off on the sheet! This way the game is a joint effort between the whole team in the car!

This can also be a great option if your kids tend to get rather too competitive and arguments break out over who found everything on their sheet first (and who cheated!)
