Duplo Stamped Dinosaur Art
This fun Dinosaur craft activity is super easy and can be adapted to what you already have at home! My Duplo Stamped Dinosaur Art Project for kids suits all ages from toddlers to school-aged kids and comes with 4 free dinosaur templates!
Stamped Dinosaur Art is a fun Process Art activity for your little ones, allowing them to be creative and enjoy the experience. It’s budget-friendly, low-prep, and easy to do with a group of kids too!

Another way to create this, is to use a larger sheet of paper, or even a roll of paper, and have a group of kids make the background together! Then they can stick their individual stamped dinosaurs to the background once it’s dry! A lovely class project and a cute display for the wall in one!

What you Need to Make your Dinosaur Art
Since I have included 2 different background options, I am going to list what you need to create this craft in 3 parts. There is a list for the Stamped Dinosaurs themselves, one for the tissue paper background, and one for the stained tea background.
To create the Stamped Dinosaur, you will need:
- My FREE Printable Dinosaur Templates
- Scissors
- Paint
- Duplo Blocks (or lego, or a potato masher or similar!)
To create the Colored Background, you will need:
- A big sheet of paper (A3 or larger)
- PVA Glue
- A tub to mix the glue and water together
- A paintbrush
- Colored Tissue Paper in different shades of green and blue
To create the Earthy Background, you will need:
- A Tea Bag
- Water
- A large sheet of paper (A3 or larger)

How to Create Your Dinosaurs Habitat
To make the background for my dinosaurs, I used a tissue paper collage effect.
First, I ripped up small pieces of tissue paper in different shades of green and blue. Using different shades of each color is a great way to give more texture and depth.
Second, I mixed some pva glue with water. I used roughly equal parts water to glue to get the right consistency. Then I covered the area I was starting with, with this mixture.
I then added the pieces of tissue paper, and each time I stuck one down, I added a layer of watered-down glue over the top of it. Make sure to overlap your tissue paper pieces to get a nice layered effect.

This is what our finished tissue paper dinosaur habitat looked like. Yours may look similar or different! There is no right or wrong way to create it. That’s part of what I love about it!
Now just wait for it to dry and then stick on your stamped dinosaurs!

Duplo Stamped Dinosaur Art Process
I love how simple this part of the dinosaur craft it! That’s why it works so well for a range of ages, as an independent craft activity.
Simply dab your duplo block into the paint and then stamp in onto your dinosaur! You can choose any color, or color combinations, you want and decorate carefully or just cover the dinosaur in prints!

The Finished Duplo Stamped Dinos!
So this is what your Duplo Stamped Dinosaur Art could look like when you’ve finished it! Of course, you can choose whichever color, or colors, you want to decorate your dinosaurs with, making them unique to each child.
Whether you choose to make your Dinosaur Art with or without a background is entirely up to you! You can draw the dinosaur shapes yourself, or feel free to grab my FREE Dinosaur Printable Templates via the big, pink button at the bottom of the post!

A different background idea…
If you don’t have the time for a tissue paper collage background, or your little one doesn’t have the patience for it, why not give this one a go!
Our dinosaur friends would not always have had lovely grassy areas to wander through, with pretty blue rivers flowing through. Some areas they travelled through would have been dusty, earthy, and muddy!
Using tea bags for art, is a great way to avoid waste, and teach about the benefits of recycling! It’s also a budget-friendly way for them to experiment with art, AND, it’s just a great fun sensory experience!
Just grab the tea bag from your cuppa, and pop it in some cold water to cool it, and then let your little one tea stain their paper to make a cool, textured, dinosaur habitat!
